Let us know in detail about the history of Bhadrachalam temple about the features of Lord Rama appearance there. First let us know how Bhadrachalam got its name and how Rama appeared there. It used to be that Lord Rama spent his time here during his exile seeing the golden lady here and Ravana lifting of Sita at Mariche is said to take place in Parnashala which is a short distance from here. crossed at to know first we need to know about a special person. He is Bhadra after Sita was abducted by Ravana and left Lord Rama came to this area in agony looking for help. Badru wanted to help Lord Rama and as a part of it he asked Swami to establish a residence on the mountain in his area. Lord Rama told the devotee that if he finds Sitas trail and brings in land
He will definitely establish residence on this area after giving a word Rama goes ahead to look for Sita and Badru has been doing penance for Rama arrival since then but Rama forgets his promise to Bharu and after finding the hand he returns to Vaikuntha and takes the form of Vishnu after the completion of Rama incarnation. Bhadra did not know this and continued his penance so Bhadra who had gone to Vaikuntam remembered his wish and hurriedly left for earth but Vishnu took the conch wheel in his hand as per his habit. In his incarnation he has two hands but after going to Vaikuntha he has four hands because he is Vishnu and when he comes for a devotee from there he also comes with four hands and thus Vishnu again transforms his wife Sri Lakshmi into a hand in the incarnation of Rama and takes him along with him and appears before Badru. Rama asks Badru what he wants and asks for a boon. Then Badru asks for a residence on his head. Then Rama promises that as long as the Panchabhuta remain he along with Sita Lakshmana will visit Baddus.
Thus Sri Ramachandra established a fixed abode on Badra head Bhadragiri hill and became Ramabhadra carrying Ram on himself Bhadra became Bhadrachalam This is how Bhadradri Rama is told in the Puranas Who invented it and who built the present temple there. According to legend in the 17th century there was a village called Badri Reddypalem near Bhadrachalam. In this village a woman named Pokala Dammakka used to worship Lord Rama with great devotion. One day, Lord Rama appeared to her in a dream and instructed her to allow devotees to visit her. So Dammakka told all the elders of the village about this and took all of them with him and went to the place mentioned by Lord Ram in his dream. As God had said in the dream he found that place with the idols of Lord Ram. According to legend a person named Kancharla Gopanna, later known as Ravadasa decided to build a great temple for Sri Ram at Bhadrachalam. Panna with the help of his uncle took over as Tehsildar of Palvancha taluk around Nelakondapally.
While he was in office, Gopanna came to know about Lord Rama who appeared in Bhadrachalam. Gopanna became a great devotee of him. Bhadrachal Sri Ramachandra temple was built in 1674 by secretly spending six lakh rupees of government money without crediting it to the government. But this work was done by taking the government money without telling the Nawab but when the Nawab Taluka came to know about this he became extremely angry and immediately ordered to give the money due to the government but he did not have the money and said angrily that they had built a temple for Ram. He wrote many hymns which are very special even today. Everyone knows Ramadasa so the hymns written by him are the hymns we listen to today. They are very famous but Rama who sang in the Gopanna region thought that he should free him from prison. Lord Rama and Lakshmana changed their clothes and went to Gopanna to pay the debt. A receipt is also taken from the Nawab that the debt has been settled After that they put the receipt to Gopala and disappear knowing that Lord Ram has come like Lakshmana.

Moreover for the welfare of the Lord pearls were sent on elephants with a special officer every game. Since then the state government has been insisting on the welfare of the Sitaram and by 1960 the temple built by Ramdas fell into ruins. At that time Kallur Chandramouli the minister of the state deity charity was appointed and he undertook the reconstruction of the temple. The whole state collected money and rebuilt the temple. In this order a magnificent Kalyana Mandap was built with 500 silpas. Ramdas built a meditation on Ranganayakula Gutta on the south side of the Ram Temple gopurams with beautiful sculptures were erected.
