A Bihari is a burden to all this saying is proved here by the top class IAS IIT IIM graduates but despite having so much talent no good industry wanted to come to this state as it is a special region due to lack of port big industries are fleeing from the state Nitish Kumar said but this statement Nitish Kumar is completely true at all No because interest of Rajasthan Panja and Haryana Many other states are landlocked but companies are first choice let us go into detail about lack of major industries There is no doubt that having a port near any industry is very beneficial as it gives them better transportation facility through which they can easily access sea routes and All kinds of materials can be imported very cheaply and you can also export them but on the contrary nowadays companies prefer to set up their industries in far away ports like Rajasthan Haryana and Punjab Rajasthan is the largest producer of mustard and millets followed by spices in India and more than 40,000 different types of industries are there for attention and these include textile cement ceramic and many other such industries
Now if we talk about Haryana this state has been the center of automobile manufacturing for many years and has grown very fast in IT sector if we talk about Punjab it is second in wheat production but IT companies semi conductor and sporting goods are also found here the statement that industries are not willing to move there as Bihar is not a port is not justifiable no but can you tell me one interesting thing when it was not industrialized in fact few decades ago it was a major trading center in fact Bihar is rich in fertile land where paddy and wheat are grown in large numbers as well as other things like poolmakhana and guavas are grown here in the fertile area not only in that place but also all over the world is very popular these were supplied on a large scale earlier during the British rule Patna also emerged as a major industrial center After independence the country grew industrialized Bihar and West Bengal were the industrial centers of the entire country. Bihar has a large amount of minerals and therefore companies wanted to be close to these mines without the need for much time or time in freight or transportation of minerals.
That is why the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru introduced freight equalization policy in 1952 and started subsidizing the cost of freight. After getting the subsidy companies did not have to go to Bihar or other mining rich states for the three cargoes or they could get minerals anywhere in the country and set up industries. Apart from this the industries already there are also closed down due to lack of proper policies and many other problems. Thus Bihar’s reputation has deteriorated during the British rule or before but last 40 to 50 years industrialization took place in many states which were previously backward in development but then Bihar has seen this change. The question arises as to why it is not visible but actually there are many reasons behind this first among them is not enough land availability to set up any company requires a lot of land but in Bihar it is very difficult for companies to get this land because the land here is very fertile and due to this more than 56% of the land in Bihar is cultivated. More than 80 percent of the people in this state of Bihar depend on farming or growing crops for their livelihood
This is the reason why there are two major problems in acquiring land firstly where people are dependent on agriculture then they do not want to give up their land under any circumstances as it is their only means of livelihood secondly because people usually have small plots but need a large plot to set up a factory in such a situation to buy land here The company should agree to sell the land by talking to many people not just one or two. Now if the government also wants to give land to a company it also becomes very complicated and difficult because here even to get land for five helicopters one has to talk to 20 to 30 different people which means taking their land from the people of Bihar is a very time consuming process in which many problems have to be faced in order not to enter Bihar industries. Economists say the two reasons are that it was the largest producer of sugar and rice until the negative trade history but today 2000 of the 3,000 mills in the state have closed and ten of the 33 sugar mills have been similarly locked.
The sugar mills were closed due to government encroachment for example in 1952, many farmers gave their land to a private company in 1976 due to high production of sugar the central government also cooperated with a gold medal in 1977 the Bihar State Sugar Corporation took over the mill laid apart from this a paper mill was also started in Baidyanathpur village of Sahasra in 1974 due to lack of funds which was not the target but it also closed down in 1987. Earlier the poor farmers here who were making their living by farming fell on the factories thus all the people who depended on the crops for their livelihood lost their livelihood. Scooter India Limited in Bihar also set up a manufacturing factory are you surprised to hear this apart from this madura 80 kms from Patna has a modern chocolate company and many textile mills and is also very famous for cement and chemical manufacturing missing gems third weak Policy Bihar government to come up with many new policies to invite industries nothing but disappointment for companies In 2015 Nitish government launched a policy called Post Production Policy
