A very popular leader in the district, he has won five consecutive MLAs since 1999 in Kolhapur constituency. After winning as an independent candidate and joining the Congress party he remained in the Congress party till 2012 and after winning two times as an MLA in 2004 and 2009 elections he resigned from the post of MLA in 2012 to support the Telangana movement and joined the then TRS party and went to the by elections Jupalli Krishnarao won as a candidate of TRS party in 2012 by election then in 2014 he won for the second time as a candidate of TRS party and served as the Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department of Telangana state but in 2018 he lost to Congress candidate Veeram Harshvardhan Reddy.
Jupalli Krishnarao who is contesting from Congress party is a political person and if we talk about the ruling BRS party candidate Veeram Harshavardhan Reddy won as MLA of Congress party in 2018 and joined TRS party because he has experience of working as a minister for four and a half years winning times. Currently Veeram Harshavardhan Reddy who is a candidate of TRS party in Kollapur assembly elections even though he is only a first time of the said MLA veeram Harshavardhan Reddy must definitely defeat Jupalli Krishna Rao because Jupalli Krishna Rao criticized the TRS party and the government when he left the TRS party.
