We often hear in the news that the rivers overflowed and these villages were drowned due to floods but at the same time the drought is severe in some places at least there is no water in the bore so in 1940 civil engineers started thinking about how to solve this problem. In the rivers which are frequently flooded dams are built on those rivers and water is stored and that water is transferred through canals to the rivers that have poor water supply and again from those rivers through canals to the drought areas. there are already many dances on the Krishna river. APNTS government is making maximum use of Krishna river water to prevent it from getting into the sea but these states are not able to use Godavari water more. Every year 30 thousand tmcs of Godavari water goes into the sea as waste. At the same time the water in Krishna river is not enough for people. So they thought that if the excess water in Godavari is transferred to Krishna river then the fields below Krishna river will be improved. Before that transfer the water that joins the sea should be stored as much as possible. To store the water, a dam is needed for that. After building the dam they wanted to connect the stored Godavari water to the Krishna river through a canal. In 1941 a chief engineer named Venkata Krishna Iyer started surveying where to build a dam on the Godavari river then the only place he found was Polavaram. Polavaram place is 50 km upstream from Dhawaleshwaram barrage except this one place he could not find a suitable place to build a dam.
So he decided to build a dam in Polavaram and it was estimated to cost six and a half crore rupees. The water will touch the temple of Sri Ram in Bhadrachalam but no money or anyone started the project. Later the project was renamed as Ninni Polavaram Irrigation Project. Finally in 2004 the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy took care of this project. The project was estimated at eight thousand two hundred crores. The state government wanted to build this project in 2004. Canal works were started in 2005 Dan construction was started in May 2006 Dam construction was stopped because clearance was not received from forest department and the project was stopped till 2009 until clearance from many other departments. Most of the projects started under the Jaleknam scheme were stopped and then nobody paid attention to them. After a few days, the state government demanded to give National Project status to Polavaram. If National Project Status is given the central government will provide 90% of the funding required to build the project, but the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not agree to it. In 2014 the Telugu states were divided into two. At the time of the separation of the states Andhra Pradesh was in the deficit budget the then Congress government promised to give national status to the Polavaram project. Elections were held in 2014. BJP came to power at the center. Telugu Desam Party came to power in Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu demanded that the BJP government should implement the promise given earlier by the Congress government. Due to the TDP support to the BJP party in the elections the central government gave Polavaram the status of a national project without any reservations. But some human rights activists opposed the project because when the project was completed the water store Due to this 276 villages in Akshara will be drowned in that water a lot of forest land will be drowned, they protested that the project should be done only after solving these problems. Chandrababu Naidu was not satisfied with that, so in 2015 he entrusted the construction work to Navayuga Company then the project work started to become fast. How is Polavaram Dam actually being constructed So far we have not understood the river itself but the Nagarjunasagar Dam is a Prakasam barrage but Polavaram Dam is not like that it is a construction. The side river goes in this direction but it is washed in the empty right side place. How do you decide the right side and left side that is if a man stands in the direction of the river as a parlor his left hand side comes and is called left, and his right hand side comes and is called right so in this way left and right are decided. It is also called as spillway Second One Earth Come Rock Film Third One Canals First Main Dam I will tell you here it will be done in the middle of two hills I have already told you there will be 48 gates Once the dam is completed the view will look like this to us
Now digging will be done to change the direction of the river After the whole work is complete the view will look like this to us The water goes to the left side instead of being stored there. Before building the ECRF dam we have to stop the water from coming to the left side. Only then can we build this CRF dam. They are washed to stop the water. These are just temperature reasons to prevent the water from coming down. ECRF is done in the middle of two copper dams. Before building a dam foundation should be laid. The foundation is called Diaphragm Wall. The reason for giving this name is that this foundation is a little different compared to other dams. This river has sand up to 300 feet deep. If the foundation is laid at a depth of 100 feet there will still be sand underneath. Even if the dance is built, water will be lost through the sand below, so a diagram will be constructed to solve this problem. If the drillers dig 300 feet the rock will be touched, and another ten feet will be dug in that rock and the dug hole will be filled with concrete. In the diagram they will be constructed with concrete which is not visible from outside but inside the earth. This diagram will construct this CRF dam with a height of 42 meters and a length of 1.7 km. It will be generated and it will look like this. Now a canal will be dug on the right side of the dam. This is the right side canal of Polavaram. 174 kilometers through this canal the water of Godavari meets Krishna river near Ibrahimpatnam in Vijayawada so two or three crops can be grown every year along the route of this canal.
Planning to carry 30% canal works completed when Rajasekhar Reddy was chief minister 1.78 percent waste Rock film works completed 5000 crores spent Now when Chandrababu Naidu was chief minister diagram wall completed 90% right canal works completed 65% left canal works completed Total project total 65% completed 10000 crore rupees spent CBN Govt. But as the central government is delaying the state government will pay the contractors. Out of that ten thousand crore rupees the central government has released 6500 crore rupees so far and another 3500 crore rupees needs to be released. Because of insulation they have set a target to give water to the right site canal by June 2019.
They have set a target to complete the project by December 2019. Due to this project, seven lakh acres of new land will be brought under cultivation and enough water will be supplied to the 23 lakh acres already under cultivation. The industries in Vizag City will be transferred to Vizag city for drinking purposes. 540 villages will get drinking water. Godavari river will get floods once in 30 years. How big a flood will disturb the amount of flood water. Polavaram has capacity. It will cost 33 thousand crores of rupees to give them compensation, the central government has not yet released that money, but if the money is released the project will be completed by December 2019. Recently, the state government has also received an award for completing the project very fast. Even if it comes, it is nothing, that’s why they are giving so much importance to this project
