After independence of India from 1952 to 1996 only Congress party ruled India for more than 40 years except two or three years in between. After seeing this many people think that there are no political parties against Congress party but that is not true because there were many political parties against Congress party then. During these 40 years no political party could defeat the Congress and form a strong government and roll continuously for at least five years but the real reason for this is that even though there were so many political parties why could they not defeat the Congress in 1975 due to the National Emergency in 1975 Indira Gandhi opposition to the Congress party increased a lot among the people. So the Janata party used this opportunity and came to power for the first time in India by defeating the Congress but it did not last for many days due to internal conflicts in the party, the Janata Party lost its power within two years and the Congress Party came back to power in 1980 but after this the Janata Party split. And the new party born out of it is Bharatiya Janata Party BJP but in this video I am going to tell how the original BJP started in independent India and grew into a strong party of 40,000 against the Congress and today it has emerged as the largest political party not only in India but in the world. Bharatiya Janata Party was officially formed as a separate party in 1980 but the original party behind it started.
In 1951 which is Bharatiya Jana Sangam which was founded in 1951 by a man named Samprasad Mukherjee. Leaders like Upadhyaya Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani led this party from 1951 to 1975, but as we have already discussed, by the time Indira Gandhi declared the National Emergency in 1975, most of the political parties in India were determined to defeat the Congress at any cost, so finally after the lifting of the Emergency in 1977 Some major political parties have all taken a decision that if they all contest separately they cannot defeat a strong party like Congress and also the opposition of the people against the Congress party during 1977 is a good opportunity to defeat that party so the Janata Morcha Indian National Congress Organization should take advantage of this opportunity. All the political parties of the Bharatiya Jana Sangam joined together and formed a strong party against the Congress in 1977. If you notice here it is the Janata Party. Although we talked about it earlier, the Bharatiya Janasam is also in this alliance. The party won 154 seats while the Janata Party won 295 seats and formed the government. At that time Janato party created a record as the first party to defeat Congress party in independent India but here you need to know the important thing that all these political parties came together to use the opportunity that came out
In 1977 and defeat Congress in any way but the problem here is that no two political parties in India are on the same ideology. Do not run every political party has its own ideologies and policies. So because of these they divide each other, but why am I saying this now exactly the same thing happened in the Janata Party, they all came together to defeat the Congress but their ideologies were not very compatible but let me tell you what actually happened. Morarji Desai Charan Singh and Jagjeevan Ram were in the race and finally Morarji Desai became the Prime Minister and the rest were made ministers and soon after they came they filed cases against Indira Gandhi and arrested them but those cases did not stand up in the court so due to this Morarji Desai was posted to make Charan the Home Minister. During the time when Janato Party was in power religious riots broke out between Hindus and Muslims in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The reason for these riots was blamed on RSS which means Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh a voluntary organization of its own. There is a party called Bharatiya Janasam, isn’t it related to that party so because RSS is also involved in these communal riots in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar the members of the Janata Party have given some conditions to the leaders of Bharatiya Janasam Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani. A condition has been given to leave the party completely
So due to these conditions all the RSS leaders left the Janata Party in 1979 but do you remember I said one thing earlier that every political party has different ideologies and policies why I said this is because of the difference in ideology they worked together for temporary purposes they could not stay together for a long time exactly the same in Janata Party. What happened was the amalgamation of political parties with various ideologies. Due to the differences in party ideology the party had internal conflicts and finally lost power in 1979 and split into plants. The leaders of Bharatiya Janasam who came out of it, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani, formed a new party together, the same Bharatiya Janata Party. But what you need to know here is that the Bharatiya Janasam party is completely based on Hinduism when it was founded two main new ideologies were brought in that is rule number one is that not only people from the BJP cadre, but also leaders who are not related to the RSS will be in this party. Number 2 BJP party like Bharatiya Jana Sangam does not fully support Hinduism but it treats all religions as equal and follows the socialism proposed by Gandhi along with secularism so based on these two new theories BJP competed in the elections in 1984 but BJP lost badly in those elections. The reason for this is that when BJP was founded many people saw it as a complete Hindu party but Vajpayee announced that all religions are equal and secularism and Gandhi and socialism so this created confusion among oters.
At the same time Indira Gandhi was shot dead by terrorists so in the 1984 elections the Congress party won 516 seats 44 seeds and formed the government with a huge majority. So NT Rama Rao’s Telugu Desam Party won 30 MP seats and created a record as the first regional party to stand in opposition to the Congress Party in the Parliament. Due to its defeat LK Advani replaced Vajpayee as the President of the BJP Party in 1984 and the growth of the BJP started from here. The idols of Sitaram were found in the mosque and since then there has been a conflict. So some leaders in the RSS formed an organization called Vishwa Hindu Parishad and started a movement to worship the idols of Sitaram in the Babri Masjid.
It was said that there will be an ok plan for all religions but when LK Advani became the president of BJP he supported the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in this Babri Masjid and because of that it was included in the election manifesto only the winning BJP got 85 MP seats in the 1989 elections and moreover it spread very fast but here is the point. Actually Ayodhya Babri Masjid has been there since 1949 but it was not included in the agenda of the BJP which started in 1951 but did not put it in the agenda of the party which started in 1951. Once LK Advani gave his party support to the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement and expanded the BJP all over the country and started a Rath Yatra but this The Rath Yatra was led by a senior leader in the BJP who I will tell you later
